Payouts

Settlement is what funds our rates.

We hold funds briefly before they can be paid out. It’s longer than some providers, and it’s what lets us charge a lower rate.

Payouts start once we’ve reviewed your account. New accounts start with limits on payments and payouts, and a rolling reserve, which ease as you build a clean trading history. Your limits and any holds are in your dashboard and the app. See our terms.

  • While your account is new: T+7. Funds can be paid out seven days after a payment, until your first £1,000 of card payments have cleared.
  • After that: T+3. You move to three days automatically.
  • Next-day payouts: +0.2% per payment. From two weeks after your first payment, switch on T+1 for new payments. Switch it off any time.
  • Standard payouts are free, with a £1 minimum.
  • Instant payout pays out your pending balance straight away for 0.99% of the amount, taken from the payout. Available once your account has a trading history with us.
Cashback

Cards that pay you back.

You pay from 0.79% whether or not you use Tuppence cards. Use them, and every eligible purchase by your team or your AI agents earns 0.89% back.

  • Earned on settled purchases with your Tuppence cards
  • Credited to your Tuppence balance monthly, in arrears
  • Refunded, reversed and disputed purchases don’t earn cashback, and any already credited on them is reclaimed

Questions

Pricing, answered.

Do I need Tuppence cards to get 0.79%?

No. 0.79% is the rate for UK consumer debit and credit cards for every UK business. The card adds 0.89% cashback on your spend.

Is there really no fixed fee?

In the UK, yes. You pay a percentage of each payment and nothing per transaction on top. There’s no monthly or set-up fee.

Which cards cost more?

American Express is 1.69%, commercial and corporate cards are 2.29%, and cards issued outside the UK are 2.49%. The card network’s data at authorisation sets a card’s type and country.

Where a card is in more than one of these, only the highest amount over 0.79% applies; see the rate card.

What happens to fees when I refund?

Your customer gets the full amount back. The original processing fee is not returned to you.

Can I get a custom rate?

Talk to us. These are our list prices, and we sometimes agree different ones with a business. If we do, your dashboard shows every price you pay and until when. Contact us.

When do I get my money?

While your account is new, funds can be paid out seven days after a payment (T+7), until your first £1,000 of card payments have cleared. After that it’s three days (T+3). From two weeks after your first payment, you can switch on next-day payouts (T+1) for +0.2% per payment, and switch them off any time. Standard payouts are free, with a £1 minimum. Payouts start once we’ve reviewed your account. New accounts start with payout limits and a rolling reserve, which ease as you build a clean trading history. With that history, instant payout pays out your pending balance straight away for 0.99%, taken from the payout.

What does Connect cost my platform?

Nothing of its own. Each business on your platform pays the card rate on its payments, and the fee you take on top is yours. If you pay our card rate for your businesses, it comes out of your Connect balance. There’s no charge per connected account or transfer.

What does the till cost?

Nothing. Tuppence POS has no monthly fee and nothing per sale. Cash, and payments you record as “Other” (another card machine, or a bank transfer), carry no fee. A card paid by QR at the till is an ordinary card payment at the card rates above. Card readers and Tap to Pay aren’t built yet. When they are, a card paid with them costs the card rate plus 8p per payment.

What if my business is registered outside the UK?

Your rate depends on the country your business is registered in. See US pricing or the rate card. Businesses registered elsewhere can join the waitlist.
