What you'd pay

Work out your fees with us.

Put in a month's card takings, your average payment and your card mix. We price it on our price list (v3, from 20 October 2026), the way we charge: a percentage of each payment, rounded up.

Your card mix (share of takings)

The rest (85%): UK consumer cards at 0.79%.

How your money is held

Not in a Tuppence bank account.

Money from your card payments is held in your account's balance with our card processor, Stripe Payments UK Ltd, until it's paid out to your bank. Tuppence never holds it.

Stripe Payments UK Ltd safeguards those funds, as the Electronic Money Regulations 2011 and the Payment Services Regulations 2017 require. In plain words: your money is kept separate from the firm's own money, and isn't used to run its business.

Safeguarded funds are not covered by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme. More on how we're set up is on our compliance page.

Payouts

Paid out to your bank, on a timetable you can see.

Payouts start once we've reviewed your account. New accounts start with limits and a rolling reserve, which ease as you build a clean trading history (see our terms).

Standard payouts: free

Three days after a payment (T+3), or seven (T+7) until your first £1,000 of card payments have cleared. A £1 minimum.

Next-day payouts, if you want them

Switch it on in your dashboard from two weeks after your first payment, and new payments pay out the next day (T+1). Switch it off any time.

Instant payouts

0.99% of the amount, taken from the payout, to pay out your pending balance straight away. Available once your account has a trading history with us.

Switching

Moving over, step by step.

Keep your current provider running until you're ready. You can close your Tuppence account at any time.

1

Register

A few minutes, and you have test keys and a dashboard straight away.

2

Tell us about your business

We look your company up at Companies House, and you add your sort code and account number. We verify you before your first payout.

3

Connect how you sell

Payment links, checkout on your own site, the API, subscriptions or the till. Each one works in test mode first.

4

Move your payments over

Point your checkout at Tuppence when you're ready. Your old provider keeps paying out what it already holds.

Savings review

Get a savings review.

Send us a recent statement from your current provider. A person at Tuppence reads it, line by line, and shows you what the same month would have cost with us.

  • We compare it with our own price list, with every assumption written down.
  • Blended rates, interchange-plus lines and scheme fees are all read.
  • No figure reaches you until a person has checked it.
