Not in a Tuppence bank account.
Money from your card payments is held in your account’s balance with our card processor, Stripe Payments UK Ltd, until it’s paid out to your bank. Tuppence never holds it.
How we’re set up- Kept apartSafeguarded as the Electronic Money Regulations 2011 and the Payment Services Regulations 2017 require: kept separate from the firm’s own money, and not used to run its business.

Where the money comes from, and what it runs.
Accounts and cards, answered.
Is this a bank account?
No. Tuppence is not a bank. Your balance is held with our card processor, Stripe Payments UK Ltd, and paid out to your own bank account.
When do I get my money?
While your account is new, funds can be paid out seven days after a payment (T+7), until your first £1,000 of card payments have cleared. After that it’s three days (T+3). From two weeks after your first payment, you can switch on next-day payouts (T+1). Standard payouts are free.
What spend earns cashback?
Settled purchases on your Tuppence cards. Cash and cash-like spend, money transfers, securities, stored value, gambling, government payments and gift cards don’t earn it, and refunds take back what they earned.
Do I need an AI agent to use cards?
No. A virtual card is your business’s own unless you give it to an agent. Use it for your team’s software, subscriptions and suppliers.
