How the partner programme works.
From application to first payout. The Partner Programme Terms govern everything here.
Apply
Apply in the partner portal with your Tuppence sign-in. We open a partner account and give you your code and link at once, then review your application.
Share your code
Your link is tuppence.ai/r/ plus your code. The portal gives you share text and a QR code, and you can share them while we review your application.
Earn every month
Every business that joins with your code is yours. Each month we calculate your share of our net revenue from each one and, once your payout details are complete, pay it to your bank.
Who counts as yours.
A business is yours when it accepts your code: by following your link, entering the code when it registers, or redeeming it later in its dashboard.
- Within 60 days. A business can redeem a code within 60 days of creating its account, before it has taken £2,000 of card payments. After that, only we can apply one.
- One code per business. A business accepts one code of any kind, ever. If it already used someone else’s, it can’t be yours. We don’t split businesses between partners.
- Platforms bring their connected accounts. If a platform on Tuppence Connect accepts your code, every connected account it has or adds later is yours too. Only the platform gets the £2,000 of fee-free processing.
- Not your own business. Businesses you or your owners own or control aren’t attributed to you.
The business sees your name next to its fee-free processing. You see its name, join date, whether it’s live, its current rate and what it has earned you. Neither of you sees the other’s payments.
How your share is worked out.
For each business and calendar month, net revenue is the processing fees we collected on its live card payments, minus our cost to process them. Your share is a percentage of it.
| The business’s year | Your share of net revenue |
|---|---|
| First year, from its first live card payment | 30% |
| Second year | 20% |
| Every year after that, for life | 10% |
Its own clock
Each business’s years start at its first live card payment, and each connected account under a platform has its own. A month that crosses an anniversary is split by the date of each payment.
What’s left out
Dispute fees, instant payout fees, card issuing and a Connect platform’s own fees aren’t part of net revenue. Test payments never count. A month below zero counts as zero and isn’t carried forward.
Fee-free months
Payments covered by fee-free processing carry no fee, so they earn no share. Their processing cost still counts in that month.
A statement every month, paid to your bank.
Early each month we prepare a statement of the previous month’s earnings. Our team reviews and approves it, and you can view and download it in the portal.
Four things must be done before we can pay you. The portal shows which are left.
- We’ve approved your application.
- You’ve finished onboarding your partner account, including the identity checks our payment processor needs.
- You’ve added a UK bank account in your business’s name.
- We’ve reviewed your partner account for payouts.
Approved statements are paid into your partner account, then to your bank. Until all four are done, statements are held and paid together. A total under £25 carries forward to the next statement.
We hold a business’s share until we’ve approved that business for payouts, then pay it on a later statement. We withhold it if the business’s payments weren’t genuine or it causes us a loss. The portal shows both.
Recommend us the way you’d want to be recommended.
- Describe Tuppence, our fees and the fee-free offer accurately, from what we publish.
- Say that you’re an independent partner who may be paid for introductions.
- Follow the marketing rules: no unsolicited emails or messages, no paid search on “Tuppence”, no accounts or domains in our name.
- Don’t offer businesses cash or other incentives to use your code.
- Never ask for a business’s sign-in details, API keys or card details, onboard it on its behalf, or handle its money.
The full rules, and what happens if they’re broken, are in the Partner Programme Terms.
