Partner programme · for agencies and advisers

Bring your clients. Share what they earn us.

Introduce businesses with your own code. They take their first £2,000 of card payments with no Tuppence fee. You earn a share of our net revenue from each: 30% in its first year, 20% in its second, then 10% for as long as it processes with us. Partnership is by application.

Who it’s for

For people businesses already ask about payments.

If you set up, build or advise on how businesses get paid, you can apply. The programme is open to businesses registered in the UK, and in the US through Tuppence Partners US.

Agencies

You build your clients’ websites and shops. Give them payments that cost nothing on the first £2,000.

Developers

You build on the Payments API, payment links or Connect for the businesses you work with.

Accountants

Your clients ask what taking cards should cost. Point them to a rate published in full, from 0.79% in the UK.

Consultants

You help businesses choose their tools. Recommend Tuppence and earn from each business you bring.

What you earn

A share of our net revenue from every business you bring.

Net revenue is the fees we collect on a business’s card payments, minus our cost to process them. You earn a percentage of it every month, for as long as the business processes with us and you remain a partner.

30%

In its first year

Each business’s year starts with its own first live card payment, so a slow start doesn’t use up your best year.

20%

In its second year

A month that crosses the anniversary is split by the date of each payment.

10%

Every year after, for life

No end date: for as long as the business processes with us and your partner terms stand.

A worked example

What one business can earn you.

Halcyon & Co joined with your code. It takes £150,000 a month in card payments, mostly on UK cards, with some international, Amex and business cards.

£9,600

earned in your first five years for every £1,000 a month of net revenue a business brings us. Then £1,200 a year for as long as it processes with us.

Illustrative only. Net revenue is the fees we collect less what those payments cost us to process. That cost depends on the cards a business’s customers use, and we calculate it the same way for every partner (partner terms, section 6). The figures assume identical months and ignore the £2,000 of fee-free processing. Shares round down to the penny.

By application

We choose our partners carefully.

Your clients will trust Tuppence because they trust you. We keep the programme small, review every application by hand and don’t accept them all.

Approved partners join a small group we know by name.

What we look for

  • A registered UK business (or a US one, on US terms). A company, partnership or sole trader with a real presence: a website, a practice or a portfolio.
  • Clients who take payments. You already set up, build or advise on how businesses get paid.
  • A clear plan. You can tell us how you’ll introduce Tuppence and roughly how many businesses you expect to bring.
  • A good name. You promote honestly, follow the marketing rules in the partner terms and look after your clients.

Larger partners can negotiate a higher share of net revenue, or a fixed payout for each business that signs up and starts trading.

£2,000 fee-free for your clients

A business that joins with your code takes its first £2,000 of card payments with no Tuppence fee, surcharges included, for 12 months. Its dashboard shows the offer came from you. It can enter your code when it registers, or redeem it within 60 days of creating its account.

What fee-free means

Works with Connect platforms

If a platform on Tuppence Connect joins with your code, it brings every connected account it has and every one it adds later. You earn on each, and each has its own first-year clock. The £2,000 of fee-free processing goes to the platform only.

Share straight away

You get your code and link when you apply, and can share them while we review your application. Businesses that join in the meantime count once you’re approved.

Paid monthly, to your bank

Each month we prepare a statement of the previous month’s earnings, and our team approves it. Once you’re approved and your payout details are complete, we pay it into your partner account and on to your bank.

Questions

Partners, answered.

What counts as net revenue?

For each business and calendar month: the processing fees we collected on its live card payments, less what those payments cost us to process. If that’s below zero, it counts as zero for the month. Dispute fees, instant payout fees, card issuing and a Connect platform’s own fees aren’t included.

Do I earn while a business is using its £2,000 fee-free?

Only on payments that carry our fee. While its payments are fully fee-free we collect nothing, so there’s nothing to share.

When do I get paid?

Early each month we prepare a statement for the previous month, and our team approves it. We aim to pay within ten business days of the end of the month it covers. A total under £25 carries forward to the next statement.

What do I need before you can pay me?

Four things: we’ve approved your application, you’ve finished onboarding your partner account (including the identity checks our payment processor needs), you’ve added a UK bank account, and we’ve reviewed your account for payouts. Your partner portal shows what’s left. Until then, approved statements are held and paid together.

Can we agree different terms?

Yes, for larger partners. If you expect to bring many businesses, we can agree your own terms (a higher share, a fixed payout for each business that signs up and starts trading, a bigger offer for your clients or a different payment minimum) within set limits, which we can lift case by case for the largest partners. Talk to us. Agreed terms show in your partner portal.

What can I see about my merchants?

Each business’s name, when it joined, whether it’s live, its current rate and what it has earned you. Not its payments or other details of its business.

Are there times you hold my share?

We hold a business’s share until we’ve approved that business for payouts, and while its payouts are on hold, then pay it on a later statement. We withhold it if the business’s payments were fraudulent or it causes us a loss.

What if a business I introduced already used another code?

Each business can accept only one code, ever, so it can’t be attributed to you. We don’t split businesses between partners.

What about VAT?

Revenue share is inclusive of any VAT. Your monthly statement, on screen and as a download, is your remittance advice.

What happens if my application isn’t approved?

Your code stops working and nothing is payable to you, including anything worked out while you were waiting. Businesses that joined with your code keep their fee-free processing.

How may I promote Tuppence?

Describe Tuppence and the offer accurately, say that you may be paid for introductions, and follow the marketing rules: no unsolicited emails or messages, no paid search on “Tuppence”, and no cash incentives to use your code. Never ask for a business’s sign-in details or handle its money. The partner terms have the full list.

Not yet. These aren’t available yet:
  • Extra tracked links and a code of your choosing
  • Team members on a partner account
  • Partners outside the UK and the US

The Partner Programme Terms apply to the programme, and the Referral and Offer Terms to the offer your clients receive.
