Tuppence for QuickBooks.
Connect QuickBooks once. Every day, Tuppence posts your sales, fees and refunds to a Tuppence bank account in QuickBooks, and every payout matches the line your bank feed shows. Nothing to map, nothing to import.
One click, and it's set up.
From Settings › Accounting, choose Connect on QuickBooks and approve on Intuit's page. Pick the company Tuppence posts to. The first posting runs a minute later.
A Tuppence bank account
Tuppence makes a bank account called Tuppence in QuickBooks, in your currency. It stands for the money Tuppence holds for you.
Sensible defaults
Sales go to Sales, fees to a new Tuppence fees account, and payouts to the bank account whose number ends in the same four digits as the one Tuppence pays you into.
At most one question
Setup asks only when it can't choose, such as two bank accounts ending in the same four digits. Your accountant can change any default.
One receipt and one payment a day.
On 13 October a business takes £120.00 through payment links, including a £5.00 tip, refunds £2.00 and pays £3.42 of Tuppence fees. After 03:00 the next morning, QuickBooks gets this:
| In QuickBooks | Line | Account | Amount |
|---|---|---|---|
| Deposit, Tuppence 13 Oct 2026 | Sales: payment links | Sales | £115.00 |
| Tips to pass on | Tips | £5.00 | |
| Expense, Tuppence 13 Oct 2026 | Refunds: payment links | Sales | £2.00 |
| Tuppence fees | Tuppence fees | £3.42 | |
| The Tuppence account | +£114.58 |
The postings carry totals, not your customers' names. A refund that arrives after its day was posted goes in a second posting for that day: nothing posted is ever edited.
Every payout matches your bank feed.
The £114.58 reaches your bank on 15 October. Tuppence posts a transfer of £114.58 from Tuppence to your bank account, dated 15 October. Your bank feed shows the same amount on the same day, so reconciling it takes one click.
Open Banking
In QuickBooks, open Banking and choose your business bank account.
See the match
Under For review, the payout's line shows Tuppence's transfer as its match: same amount, same date.
Choose Match
One click and the payout is reconciled. Tuppence never marks anything reconciled for you.
Switch off any bank rule for Tuppence payouts. If a QuickBooks bank rule records Tuppence payouts as sales, turn it off. Tuppence has already posted the sales, so the rule would count them twice.
Right by default.
- Sales and refunds use your sales account's own VAT rate, VAT-inclusive. QuickBooks works out the VAT: £19.17 on the worked day's £115.00 at 20%.
- In-person sales at the till split by the rates the till recorded, one line per rate.
- Tuppence's fees post with no VAT by default. Your accountant can choose another rate.
- Tips, chargebacks, cashback and customer credit are outside VAT.
Each with its fix.
- Reconnect when the connection expires. The same books carry on where they stopped.
- Turn on multicurrency in QuickBooks (Settings, Advanced) when your books are in another currency. Tuppence never converts silently.
- Start after the lock date when your books are locked. A locked day posts on the first open date.
- Repost that day when a Tuppence transaction was deleted or changed in QuickBooks.
Questions
What does it cost?
Nothing. Accounting integrations are free on every Tuppence account.
Who can connect QuickBooks?
Owners and admins connect, change and disconnect. Managers, developers and analysts see the page and download the statement file. Invite your accountant as an analyst.
Can I try it in test mode?
Yes. In test mode Tuppence only reads your real books and shows what it would post, creating nothing. Test data is posted for real only to a QuickBooks sandbox company.
Can I start later than my first day on Tuppence?
Yes. Choose a start date, and the balance on that day posts once from a Tuppence opening balance account for your accountant to clear.
What happens if I disconnect?
Posting stops, and everything already in QuickBooks stays there. Tuppence never renames or deletes anything in your books.
What if someone deletes a Tuppence transaction in QuickBooks?
QuickBooks tells Tuppence when one of its transactions is deleted or voided, so the Accounting page shows it straight away, with Repost that day to put it back.
Payments that give more back.
